Something Worthwhile

Every fall the young men and young women in our stake get to clean up the temple grounds and get it ready for winter. They trim bushes, dig up bulbs and pull out all the annual plants. Some even turn it into a family affair; time well spent.

Why do we have an appedix?

So Dr.'s can perform appendectomies.Yesterday Parker went under the knife. Here is the story... Yesterday Parker called me from school around 2:00pm and said his stomach was bothering him. He was complaining of sharp pains and wanted to come home. One of his friends said it could be his appendix (an 8th grader diagnosing him?...he's destined to be a Dr.) The pain continued to get worse so @ 3:00pm we went to the Dr.'s. After a few painful pokes from the Dr. and a blood draw they determined that his white blood count was high and wanted to do a CAT Scan at the Hospital.
The CAT scan verified what the "8th grade Dr." told him. It was his appendix and that it needed to come out. By 6pm they were preparing to do surgery and 45 minutes later Parker was appendix free. The sad thing about this whole ordeal, Parker said, is that football season is over for him and he will have to watch the last two games from the sidelines.

The drama

1. This morning, the day after surgery.
2. Having his IV removed
3. The grand exodus from the hospital in the wheel chair.
4. The ride home...please no more pictures just get me home.

FOOTBALL

This is what our Saturdays have been filled with this year.
Their team made it to the playoffs this year and so we have two more weeks to enjoy football...hopefully the weather will hold out. We have had beautiful 50-70 degree weather this fall except for the one weekend where all the games were cancelled due to 14 inches of snow (see below). Parker plays all defense positions and LOVES it.
